A late summer thunderstorm looms, brewing on the horizon, on the field’s edge. The air crackles as she scurries. Droplets descend as people dart off to their hiding places. She hurries on. To her left, in the open field, a boy sits, exposed, even as thunder rumbles overhead. She thinks back to high school. A young man struck by a stray bolt, a freak bolt while playing soccer in the middle of a field. He didn’t deserve to die. (They never do.) Unless they sit in the middle of an open field. Soap coats her hands as she bobs her head back and forth to the music’s beat. Her fingers weave through the lather scrubbing the dishes. A misstep - and a dish falls with a crack. “Damn it,” she seethes under her breath, not loud enough for her parents in separate bedrooms to hear. Her dad calls from one room over. Swaying to the rhythm, she goes back to the scrubbing, getting lost in the motion. “I don’t want to leave you like this,” she sings under her breath. “All alone in the cold...” Another plate slips and falls, breaking this time. At times I stumble upon ruins of myself – fragmented sayings, childish ramblings and unsupervised wanderings of a girl convinced she was a woman. They make my insides burn; they make my mouth sneer. So I fold the poems, one, two, three times, and slip them into a file I never open. And I wonder when I am old and the wrinkles crease at the corner of my eyes, and my skin sags on my frame like a worn-out coat, and the memories gather dust in the corner, will I be little more than a folder bulging with little scraps of the past?

Hello Again

Just so you know, I just finished a Poetry Workshop class, so prepare yourself for a bunch of poems. (Also, I got a B in the class. I don't think the writing professors at my college appreciate my writing style. Dx) In other news, my STM (short term memory) is getting better, REALLY slowly. (I was having STM issues because of the brain bleed.) Also, also I went to my neurologist, had the IV treatments, and am starting to wean off the prednisone. Three years is FAR too long to be on that blasted drug. Also, also, also I got a B in my English class, Women of the Renaissance. Like, I love the professor as a human being, but she is a terribly

Your friend =Meirii posted a journal showing her concern for your health due to you being in the ICU. You have an amazing friend there, and she's going to visit you next Saturday with hopefully lots of fan art and music to try and reach you. I know you obviously can't read this now, but when you recover, I know you will, I hope you'll read this and realize you have an amazing friend, though I'm sure you already knew. I know I've never mt you, talked to you, I'd never even heard of you until Meirii mentioned you in her journal but.. I really hope you recover soon and get over whatever it is that you're fighting. I'm sending out positive thoughts to you, get well soon okay? I'll be looking forward to hear your friend announcing your recovery, as I'm sure she will very soon. Much love, Neon-Fizz. <3
